During part of his 5+ years working for Amtrak, he was the Infrastructure Planning Manager for the Chicago Union Station Master Plan, which included working closely with Metra, the Chicago Department of Transportation, the City of Chicago, and the Regional Transportation Authority (RTA) to advance the design and implementation of elements of the City of Chicago’s Master Plan for Chicago Union Station; specifically those elements that will relieve severe concourse and platform overcrowding, accommodate anticipated ridership growth from Amtrak and Metra, and bring the station further into compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) Section 130, and Amtrak’s best practices.
While his wife was pregnant, he authored and self-published Harold's Home Station, likely the first children's book set in Chicago's historic Union Station.
